2. Components list
   After finalising the concept and determining the budget, create a list of the components that are necessary to acquire. If any is difficult to find, there may be the possibility that you will have to search for it in a different town, remote regions or even abroad. Also, make a list of the items that are already in your possession to avoid double-purchases.
3. Engine
   If the concept, budget, modification workshop and list of components have been determined, the next step is to put the whole plan in motion. Reindy says that the engine should be the first to be worked on. "The engine is the essence of a car," he stresses. Finally, make sure that the engine actually works and has a noticable change in power and torque compared to its figures prior to the modification.
   
   
   For those of you who are new and inexperienced, engine modification should perhaps be kept to the basic for the time being. But don't let us stop you though! An example of a basic engine modification include improving the spark-ignition system by replacing the spark plug or the coil.
   
   Another modification, a less complicated one, is altering the engine's looks by giving it a carbon shell or a chrome finishing. Generally, engine modification takes the most amount of time, as many trial and errors will be involved, Reindy reveals.
4. Alloy wheels
   Now that the engine has been taken care of, next comes the wheels. Pick rims that goes with the existing theme. After they are in place, start the process of figuring out whether or not a body modification is in order, if a wider fender is needed, for example. According to Reindy, the body should always be adjusted to the rims in modifying a car.

If a car has bigger rims and tyres, it will have better handling, which in turn gives the car more edge and tenacity in manoeuvring. This is due to a wider contact area between the tyre and the asphalt surface, hence better grip, in addition to a hipper look of course.


However, there's a downside. Comfort will be less on uneven roads, as the road absorption ability of the car has been reduced. Road noise will also be more present inside. To anticipate this, use better quality dampers to maintain cabin comfort.


5. Body kit
   As have been mentioned before, after the alloy wheels have been determined, the body kit can be fitted. Make a complete appearance change by replacing the front bumper, rear bumper and side skirts.
6. Audio
   Don't forget to better the audio system. In fact, some tuners focus on the audio. "If audio is the focus, make sure to use high-quality components from reputable brands for the audio system to produce a sound quality that you would hope for," Reindy explains. As with other components, the audio must also stay with the theme to create a sense of unity.
   
   
   In tuning competitions, the audio category is usually divided into three classes, namely SQ (Sound Quality), SQL (Sound Quality Loud) and SPL (Sound Pressure Level). If you are keen in sound clarity and quality, set your audio system to adhere to SQ for the audio clarity, depth, sound stage, etc. to be just like the real deal.
   
   But for those of you who just like glass-shattering thumping sounds or the sound of a base, opt for an SPL arrangement to allow you a greater degree of freedom in deciding your decibels (db). SQL on the other hand suits novice audio enthusiasts, as the arrangement is more simple to manage. SQL itself is a combination of the other two, namely sound quality and thumping sounds put together.
7. Interior
   Make the changes to the interior to be in accordance with the previously set theme and colour scheme. The materials used should also go along with the theme. For example, elegance generally calls for leather wrappings and wood panels on the dashboard.
   
   
   If racing is your theme of choice, replacing the standard steering wheel with a racing one and installing race pedals are better suited for you.
